CLEANING AIR FILTERS
A properly running, small air cooled engine requires clean air, fuel, compression and ignition. Clean air is essential to insuring an engines long life. Air filters control the cleanliness of air as it flows into the combustion chamber. Proper air filter cleaning is very important.

Cleaning Foam Filters:

1. Clean dirt and oil residue from the filter using solvent or mineral spirits.
2. Clean solvent from the foam using water and detergent.
3. Squeeze water from the filter and dry in shop towel.
4. Pour one tablespoon of 30 wt oil into the filter and sqeeze out the excess. If the oil doesn't sqeeze out, continue adding oil until it does. If the filter is disintegrating, replace it.

Cleaning Paper Filters:

Simply tap the filter against a hard surface.

Never use compreseed air to clean a paper filter-
it can blow holes into the paper, loosen seals and
open seams between paper folds.

If the filter doesn't come clean by tapping, replace
it. If the plastisol seal is hardened, the filter
should be replaced.

Important!: Clean air is critical for the long life of the engine.
